I love learning new things and want to share that joy of learning with others. I want to help others and show them the fun that learning can be, especially in technical areas like computer science, math, and statistics. I tutor students in calculus 2 through the Math Learning Center at Texas A&M. I really enjoy seeing the moment a concept starts to click with the students. I am there to elaborate on a topic or to provide a different perspective from what the professor may have taught. Tutoring also helps me work on my communication skills by intentionally choosing words that fit my audience. If a student is struggling with a difficult subject, I won't use technical jargon that will make the subject more confusing. On the other hand, I can't treat the student as if they know nothing about the class because the student may feel like they got nothing out of the session.
I have always been trying to help people as much as I could academically. I have two younger siblings that often help in math and science. I would also help my friends as well in high school. I taught kids in grades kindergarten through sixth at a summer camp over the summer of 2024. I got to show these kids how much fun learning can be in the subjects of coding, robotics, and engineering.
In the future, I would like to be a part of fundraising or charity organizations that help low-income students go to college. College is a pivotal part of a student's life because it is where they can gain real world experiences and career opportunities. Going to college is a launchpad to help low-income students and provides opportunities they deserve throughout their lives. I would like to volunteer to organizations that support these ideas such as QuestBridge.
